CRS Claims and Recovery Services was set up in Prague on 1 January 1998 and holds the Lloyd's Agency for Prague and Bratislava, which covers the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and since 2011 also for Budapest. It carried on the claims work formerly done by Česká pojišťovna and is registered with the Czech National Bank as an independent loss adjuster. Its surveyors, several of them former underwriters' adjusters, inspect damaged cargo, do pre-shipment and warehouse quality and quantity checks, adjust claims including general average, and pursue recoveries under CMR, Hague-Visby and Montreal rules.
